Newsflash:
The Avon Lake Fire Department and Avon Lake Municipal Utilities will be conducting their annual safety inspection of the city's fire hydrants from April 29 until September 30. Residents' water may become discolored during the inspection, but should clear up after 3-5 minutes of running it. (If water does not clear in that time, call ALMU 24/7 at 440-933-6226). Residents should use only clear water when laundering clothes.

The Board of Municipal Utilities authorized an extension and expansion of the Foundation Drain Sump Pump Disconnection (FDSD) program. Through December 31, 2013, the Board authorized $36,000 for 120 residents / properties located in the formerly-combined sewer areas of Avon Lake, who have sump pumps that pump foundation drain water to the sanitary sewer. Each resident / property owner will receive either a $300 sewer credit or a $100 sewer credit and a basin pump for permanently preventing their foundation drain water from entering the sanitary sewer.
