Avon Lake is a highly-educated, professional community with a top quality school system.  It is one of the more attractive communities in the Cleveland/Lorain/Elyria metropolitan areas.  

The City of Avon Lake is located in Northern Ohio between the cities of Cleveland and Lorain and is a part of Lorain County.   Avon Lake’s geographical limits lie off the shores of Lake Erie to the north; the land area is roughly 12 (11.64) square miles.  Our population is approximately 20,224.

 
Residents enjoy the recreational activities that our City has to offer.  The community is comprised of public beaches, 20 miles of bike trails, a boat launch, and many other recreational amenities.

Avon Lake boasts a MetroPark, together with 220 additional acres of parklands and playgrounds.  Other activities available for the enjoyment of our residents include our municipal swimming pool, golf courses, swim club, tennis courts, outdoor ice rink, youth sports, and adult sports.

 
Located only 15 miles west of Cleveland, Avon Lake residents have convenient access to museums, the Indians’, Browns’ and Cavaliers’ stadiums, Playhouse Square, the world-famous Cleve-land Orchestra, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Old Firehouse Community Center

Avon Lake’s senior citizens and teens can find a wide array of activities and support.  Our Old Firehouse Community Center is dedicated to providing seniors and teens with a wide variety of programs and activities that they and their families can enjoy.  

 

Lorain County Transit offers Community Connector to any resident of Avon Lake, with curb-to-curb service to any location within Avon and Avon Lake, for a nominal fee.  The Community Connector is equipped to assist the handicapped.
