Services Provided To Avon Lake residents include:

STUDIO

  • 3 sets available to the public (ALC-TV staff is available to switch and run the cameras during studio shoots)
  • 1 public editor available for public use.
  • Mini-DV cameras, tripods and various microphones are available to be checked out.
  • Community Bulletin Board that is available to post messages for community groups.

    • SERVICES

  • Dubbing available for a small fee
  • 8mm video to mini DV, VHS o Mini DV to VHS, 8mm video
  • VHS to Mini DV, 8mm video, DVD, VHS

    • Items dubbed onto VHS cost $10 per tape or $5 if new blank tape is provided.
    Items dubbed from VHS to DVD cost $ 10 per disk.
    Items dubbed onto 8mm cost $5. Customer must provide 8mm tape
    Items dubbed to mini DV cost $10 or $5 if mini DV tape is provided.
    Additional $3 charge for mailing

  • Copies of past shows – Above charges apply
  • Student use of cameras and editing equipment for classroom projects
  • Resident use for work projects
  • Tours by Girl/Boy Scout and other community groups

    • GOVERNMENT ACCESS CHANNEL

  • Broadcasts various governmental programs 4 times per day including.
  •  Local government meetings
  •  Public interest shows produced by various Federal and Ohio Departments
  •  Government sponsored community activities
  • Bulletin Board  with upcoming city government meeting times and city government announcements and notices

    • PUBLIC ACCESS CHANEL

  • Airs programs produced by residents or groups of Avon Lake. These shows can air up to 3 times daily for up to one week. These include:
  •  Regularly produced shows
  •  School events
  •  One time or intermittent shows
  • The Public Access Bulletin Board runs between programming and includes: announcements by Avon Lake community groups, ongoing informational postings and government announcements

    • Are there classes to learn to use cameras and editors?

    No, there are no formal classes. Any resident of Avon Lake can make an appointment and ALC-TV staff will help you to use the equipment available to the public.

    Who can use the Avon Lake Community Television Equipment?

    The use of ALC-TV equipment and staff is not limited to cable subscribers but is available to all residents (18 and older), groups, organizations, clubs and enterprises of Avon Lake. Television opportunities for those under 18 years of age are available with the responsible direction of a parent or guardian.

    Cable service in Avon Lake is provided by Time Warner Cable and WOW! Both of these companies provide cable, internet and phone service. Avon Lake Community Television is a department of the City of Avon Lake and not associated with Time Warner Cable or WOW!.     I have been hired to film an event/wedding. Can I use ALC-TV cameras and editors to do this?

    Avon Lake Community Television Rules and Regulations #34 specifically prohibits using ALC-TV equipment for personal profit.

    Financial Gain

    34. The equipment ALC-TV makes available to residents of Avon Lake is intended to be used to produce shows for air on the Public Access Station. This equipment can also be used by Avon Lake residents for projects that will not be aired. However, ALC-TV’s equipment is not intended to be used to produce materials for sale or profit.
