Avon Lake/Bay
Park:
This Park has started the first phase of development in the summer of
2004. This will be the second largest community park with 60acres and
many recreational activities to offer the community including: six soccer
fields, (2) baseball diamonds, walking trails, and a shelter area.
Bleser Park:
This park is by far the most frequented parks in Avon Lake. With 23.3
acres, it is the focal point for many activities. Site amenities include:
two baseball fields, two lighted basketball courts, concession stand,
ice pond, pavilion, picnic tables, grills, 12,000 sq.ft playground, community
pool, restrooms, shuffleboard, four lighted tennis courts, and two sand
volleyball courts. (Electric Boulevard, west of Rt. 83).
Bicentennial Park:
This park is located on 15.2 acres. Through collective community efforts,
Bicentennial Park was dedicated in commemoration of Ohio’s Bicentennial
in 2003. The park was designed as a passive area containing a bike/walking
trail lined with fifty Buckeye Trees. The trees were donated by members
of the community, and add to the beauty of this serene park. Russell E.
Lynch, Avon Lake Kiwanian, created the idea for The Buckeye Trail and
dedicated many hours toward completion of the project. Russell passed
away in July of 2004.and offers a variety of recreational activities.(Electric
Blvd.,west of Rt.83).
Miller
Road Park:
Located along the Lake Erie shoreline with 14.7 acres, this park has a
lot to offer the community. Site amenities include: a boat launch (access
24 hours), fishing pier, gazebo, pavilion, picnic tables, playground,
restrooms, beach access, and a ¼ mile walking path. (Northside of Lake
Road at Miller Road).
Weiss Field:
This is the largest community park in Avon Lake with 79.2 acres. Weiss
Field offers a variety of recreational activities to offer the community.
Amenities include: two picnic shelters, bike/skate park, basketball court,
playground equipment, horse arena, and eleven baseball/softball fields.
The park recently underwent a one million dollar renovation funded by
the City of Avon Lake and the Avon Lake Youth Baseball Federation. The
new fields will have improved drainage capabilities, new dugout areas,
new fencing, and an improved parking area.
Veteran’s Memorial Park:
Located along the shores of Lake Erie. This 5 acre park offers
daytime swimming and beautiful sunset views during the summer months.
Site amenities included: boardwalk along the shoreline with bench seating,
picnic areas with grills, guarded swimming area (1pm-6pm), when weather
and water conditions permit, from June to Labor Day.
