CARE OF STREET TREE

It is important that you water your street tree at least twice a week during hot dry summer months and into the fall. Trees require significantly more water than the amount needed to water your lawn. Watering should continue until October 1st.
Mulching is beneficial since it helps retain soil moisture, controls the growth of weeds and grass and protects the trunk from injuries caused by lawn mowers and trimmers that often result in serious damage or death to trees.
- Apply mulch no more than 1-1/2” deep
- Keep mulch at least 4” away from base of tree trunk
- Avoid piling mulch against the trunk of the tree
- Do not let matted and compressed mulch build up year after year
- Rake mulch yearly to avoid matting
Call the City Service Department to report storm damage, dead limbs, obstruction of street signs or damage due to vandalism. The Service Department can be reached Monday through Friday at 930-4126.
