Finance Department

The City of Avon Lake has a separate Finance Department, with the Director of Finance performing the duties of Treasurer, Auditor, Risk Manager, and Purchasing Agent. The Director of Finance is appointed by the Mayor to maintain books and records, report revenues and expenditures, and fund balances for both the City of Avon Lake and the Avon Lake Municipal Utilities.
Two clerks in the department are responsible for all aspects of payroll, accounts payable, cash receipts and fixed asset tracking. The department is rounded out with an administrative assistant whose duties include City Hall's main switchboard operator, insurance liaison, tracking and collection of past due garbage billings and assisting various department heads administratively.
