1. Do I get to pick what hospital I am taken to?
(A) Although the paramedics on scene value your input on which hospital you would like to be treated at, your health is our number one concern. Your condition determines which hospital we will take you to.

2. How much do you charge for EMS?
(A) The Avon Lake Fire Department does not charge for EMS runs.

3. How do I obtain a copy of an EMS run report?
(A) To obtain a copy of a run report the following apply: If you are the patient, you must show a valid ID to obtain a copy. If you are not the patient, a release authorization must be signed by the patient for us to be able to release any medical information.

4. How much does a copy of a Fire or EMS report cost?
(A) The Avon Lake Fire Department does not charge for copies of reports.

5. How do I become a member of the Avon Lake Fire Department?
(A) You have to take the Civil Service Exam that is given every 1 to 2 years depending on how long the list is certified for. You must also be a Paramedic at the time of appointment.

6. Do you hire part time Firefighter/Paramedics?
(A) At the present time, the Avon Lake Fire Department does not have any part time firefighters/paramedics.
