This program is for residents only.  Lockboxes can be purchased by visiting the Old Firehouse Community Center.

Lock boxes are designed to help emergency services to preserve lives and property. In the event that a resident cannot get to the door to let a responder in or if no one is home in the event of a fire, the lock box allows emergency services (Police, Fire & Paramedics) instant access to a property, while eliminating forced entry damage.

A lock box is especially valuable for individuals who live alone or who may have a potentially serious medical condition. Also, a lock box is beneficial for property owners who leave their property vacant for an extended period of time. The City of Avon Lake Fire Department is responsible for the inventory and control of the key to the lock box. Once an individual has purchased a lock box, the Fire Prevention Officer with the Avon Lake Fire Department will contact you and set up an appointment to install the lock box at no additional charge.
