Recycling Rules & Regulations

Allied Waste Services provides residential recycling and yard waste collection services for the City of Avon Lake. Avon Lake participates in a curbside Blue Bag program.
How to Participate
Collected and cleaned aluminum, steel and bi-metal cans, glass bottles and jars, plastics #1 and #2 can be placed together (commingled) in your blue plastic bag. Please only use blue plastic bags to place these materials at the curb.
Collected newspapers must be placed separately from other recycables in a separate blue plastic bag.
Blue plastic bags may be purchased wherever garbage bags are sold.
Yard Waste Rules & Regulations
Grass clippings and other yard waste for composting:
All grass clippings and other yard waste should be placed in a paper yardwaste bag for composting.
Note: Grass clippings and yard waste placed in any other type of container or bag will not be composted but collected with your regular trash.
Allied Waste will collect brush and small tree trimmings that are cut to lengths not to exceed 4 feet and securely tied in bundles of 40 lbs or less.
Both recycling in blue bags and yard waste in paper bags are collected on Monday by Allied Waste.
PLEASE PLACE RECYCABLES AND YARD WASTE ON YOUR TREELAWN AREA NO EARLIER THAN 24 HOURS PRIOR TO THE REGULARLY SCHEDULED PICK UP BY ALLIED WASTE.
