Public Meeting about the Avon Lake Power Plant Redevelopment on July 19 at Avon Lake High School Avon Lake, Ohio: On Tuesday, July 19, at 6:00pm, there will be a public meeting at Avon Lake High School
(175 Avon Belden Rd.) on the demolition and redevelopment of the Avon Lake Power Plant site. The featured presenters will be from Avon Lake Environmental Redevelopment Group (ALERG), a subsidiary of Charah Solutions.
The program will begin in the Performing Arts Center (PAC), where there will be an hour scheduled for ALERG to present information and respond to questions. Then at approximately 7:00pm, ALERG representatives will move to tables in the high school commons area, along with representatives from the City and the Avon Lake Community Improvement Corporation, giving attendees a chance to discuss the project with those different groups.
The opening session in the Performing Arts Center will be filmed by Avon Lake Productions. We will share it as soon as they post it.

AVON LAKE POLICE COMMUNITY POLICE ACADEMY
The Avon Lake Police Department is hosting a Community Police Academy that will begin on September 7, 2022.
The Community Police Academy is a 10 week program designed to give the public a working knowledge of the Avon Lake Police Department. The program will be held for 10 consecutive Wednesday nights starting on September 7th from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Each session will cover separate areas of the department’s operations.
Firearms, communications, patrol, and evidence collection are examples of some of the topics that will be covered. Instruction will consist of lectures, demonstrations and student participation.
The main goal of the Community Police Academy is to provide information to the public that will increase the rapport between the citizens and the officers of the Avon Lake Police Department. We also anticipate that the participants will become better aware and informed on how the Avon Lake Police Department operates.
We hope that the graduates of the Academy will utilize the knowledge gained through the program to assist the Police Department in its goals of providing a safe community for the citizens of Avon Lake.
The academy is open to anyone 21 years of age and above. The participants will be required to complete an application form and are subject to a background investigation. The classes will be filled on a first come basis. All of the participants are expected to attend all sessions of the program.
