Avon Lake’s Shop Local campaign incentivizes support for local businesses

10/28/2025 – Avon Lake, Ohio – The City of Avon Lake and local businesses are teaming up for Shop Local, an annual campaign that offers shoppers the chance to win prizes when they purchase goods or services at participating locations.

Beginning, November 1, 2025, businesses participating in the Shop Local campaign will give out raffle tickets to their customers. From November 10 through December 5, prize drawings will be held at two participating businesses every weekday (excluding Thanksgiving and Black Friday). Winners will receive $50 gift cards from that business.

After the prize drawings have concluded, the City will gather raffle tickets from all of the participating businesses for grand prize raffles. From December 16 through December 18, three winners will be awarded a grand prize. Each grand prize will include gift cards from different areas of the City: east, west, and central.

"The Shop Local started out as a Small Business Saturday event,” said Avon Lake Community Development Director Ted Esborn. “Over time it has grown from a single day event into something much bigger and more impactful for our local business owners. This campaign is all about shining a spotlight on local businesses and the many excellent services, shopping experiences, and dining options the City has to offer.”

More than forty Avon Lake businesses are participating in the Shop Local campaign this year, ranging from restaurants to boutiques and salons. For a complete list of participating locations, visit avonlake.org/shoplocal.
