Alarm System Registration 

In Avon Lake, registering your alarm system is required for residential and commercial properties to prevent excessive false alarms and ensure efficient response times by emergency services. This registration process helps law enforcement and fire departments quickly identify the property owner and provide appropriate response when an alarm is activated


Block Party Permit 

Planning a block party? You're going to need a permit for that. Take a sec to fill out our Block Party Permit application. Eight (8) business days notice is required. 


Building Permits 
The Avon Lake Building Department issues permits for the construction of residential and commercial buildings and structures. All permit building permit applications can be made through the Access Our Avon Lake online portal


Commercial Construction Permits

The Avon Lake Fire Department requires permits for commercial construction-related activities such as the installation of sprinklers, alarms, above ground storage tanks, and more. 


Deer Damage Control Permit

Eligible Avon Lake residents may apply for Deer Damage Control Permits (DDCPs) from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and then obtain Municipal Deer Control Permits (MDCPs) from the Avon Lake Police Department. These permits allow residents to bow hunt deer on their property to address property damage.


Door to Door Solicitation 

Solicitors must register and receive approval from the City of Avon Lake Safety Director before they are permitted to canvas door-to-door. 


Engineering Permits 
From our roads to our infrastructure, the Avon Lake engineering team assures that our sewers and streets are managed, maintained, and equipped to serve our residents for years to come. The engineering team issues permits for grading, re-grading, road opening, and right-of-way; and handles landscaping and tree service registration. Food Truck Registration & Permits 

Mobile food unit operators (food trucks and food carts) must register and obtain a permit through the City of Avon Lake to conduct business at special events or private parties. Questions? Call 440-933-8305.


Parade Permit

Parade permits help maintain public safety by ensuring organizers follow established rules for traffic control, crowd management, etc.  


Scavenger License 

A scavenger license is a permit issued by the City of Avon Lake that allows a person to collect and transport discarded materials from public or private property, such as trash, recycling, and scrap metal, for the purpose of reusing, reselling, or disposing of the items.


Tree Lawn Pollinator Planting Permit

A permit is required to plan native pollinators in your tree lawn. Before planting, the homeowner or their contractor must apply for a permit and contact the Ohio Utilities Protection Service (OUPS) to ensure underground utilities are not damaged. 


Tree Lawn Sign Permit 

The City of Avon Lake allows signs to be posted on city-owned right-of-ways (tree lawns) for individuals, groups, or entities that operate in and/or specifically benefit the community.
