Building Contractor Registration
Contractor Registration
Any contractor working in the City of Avon Lake must be registered. Contractor Registration must be completed on a yearly basis. The fee to register as a contractor is $100.00.
To set up an online account in the City of Avon Lake's Access Our Avon Lake OpenGov licensing and permitting portal, please follow these steps:
- Create an account (If you have an OpenGov account with another city you can skip this step)
- Complete the appropriate registration form
- Upload required documents
- Pay the fee (credit card, check, or eCheck)
Required Documents
Contractor Registration
- $15,000 Surety Bond with Power of Attorney attached.
- Download the Surety Bond form (form is also available in the Access Our Avon Lake OpenGov licensing and permitting portal)
- Certificate of Insurance naming City of Avon Lake as Certificate Holder (minimum of $500,000)
- Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Fire Protection - Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board (OCILB) License
- Workers’ Compensation Certificate if contractor is covered as required by the state
Landscaper Registration
- $5,000 Surety Bond with Power of Attorney attached
- Download the Surety Bond form (form is also available in the Access Our Avon Lake OpenGov licensing and permitting portal)
- Certificate of Insurance naming City of Avon Lake as Certificate Holder (minimum of $100,000)
- Pesticide Applicator and Fertilizer Applicator - Ohio Commercial Applicator’s Certificate
- Workers’ Compensation Certificate if contractor is covered as required by the state
You will be emailed a reminder at the end of the year to renew your registration.
