Contractor Registration

Any contractor working in the City of Avon Lake must be registered. A Contractor Registration must be completed on a yearly basis. The fee to register as a contractor is $100.00.

For contractors that have not set up an online account in Access Our Avon Lake, please follow these steps:

• Create an account (If you have an OpenGov account with another city you can skip this step)
• Complete the registration form (see the links below)
• Upload required documents
• Pay the fee (credit card, check, or eCheck)

The required documents are:
For Contractor Registration

• $15,000 Surety Bond (download the form or it is available when you register online)
• Certificate of Insurance naming City of Avon Lake as Certificate Holder (minimum of $500,000)
• Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Fire Protection - Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board (OCILB) License
• Workers’ Compensation Certificate if contractor is covered as required by the state

For Landscaper Registration

• $5,000 Surety Bond (download the form or it is available when you register online)
• Certificate of Insurance naming City of Avon Lake as Certificate Holder (minimum of $100,000)
• Pesticide Applicator and Fertilizer Applicator - Ohio Commercial Applicator’s Certificate
• Workers’ Compensation Certificate if contractor is covered as required by the state
