Civil Service Commission administers and enforces the Civil Service Ordinance of the City and the rules and regulations relative to the City of Avon Lake.
Civil Service Commission Members
Civil Service Commission consists of three (3) electors of the City (not holding other municipal office or appointment) and serve for a term of six (6) years.

- William Albrecht, Secretary (term expires 12/31/2029)
Meeting Time & Location
Meetings are held in Council Chambers at Avon Lake City Hall, 150 Avon Belden Road, and are typically on the first Monday of each month at 4:30 p.m.

Civil Service Commission Responsibilities:
- Administer and enforce the Civil Service Ordinance of the City and the rules and regulations relative to the City of Avon Lake;
- Conduct entrance examinations and promotional examinations;
- Recommend to Council, for their approval, the exempt or unclassified position in the City and is guided by the laws of the State of Ohio;
- Provide for appeals from the action of the Mayor in any case of transfer, reduction, or removal; and
- Keep a record of its proceedings and examinations.
