Temporary Warming Shelter
The Anchor Recreation Facility located at 33483 Lake Road will be open Saturday, January 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday, January 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. This facility can be used as a temporary warming shelter for anyone in need of relief from the cold. Please feel free to stop in for a safe and warm place during this extreme cold weather.
If anyone seeks shelter from the cold, the fire station and police station will temporarily accommodate a minimum number of people at any time. This should enable them to warm up and make further arrangements to go elsewhere, such as friends or family. Warming shelters are temporary accommodations for those without power or heat until other necessary arrangements can be made. Warming centers are not meant to be overnight accommodations. Overnight accommodations are set and staffed by the Red Cross.
