Elysium Café brings relaxing brunch vibes to Avon Lake

07/16/2025 – In Greek mythology, “Elysium” refers to a place of perfect happiness and peace. Those are precisely the kind of relaxing, feel-good vibes that owners Ilir and Irena Lamaj are hoping to bring to Elysium Café (32457 Lake Road, Avon Lake, Ohio). The café, which opened on July 15, offers rich, aromatic coffees, fresh smoothies, savory sandwiches, sweet crepes, and buttery croissants. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

“We chose the name ‘Elysium’ because we were inspired by the idea of a welcoming place where people could pause, connect, and enjoy a little piece of everyday bliss,” said Irena Lamaj. “Our menu is crafted with the goal of offering something for everyone, inspired by what people love most during a relaxing brunch. We want Elysium Café to be a place where guests come to start their mornings or recharge during the day in a cozy, uplifting setting.”

The ribbon cutting for Elysium Café was held on Tuesday, July 15 and included brief remarks by Avon Lake Mayor Mark Spaetzel.

“We are very excited that Ilir and Irena chose Avon Lake as Elysium Café’s home,” said Ted Esborn, Community Development Director for the City of Avon Lake. “I think their guests are going to be delighted at how much intention and heart has gone into every detail, from the menu to the relaxing ambience. Ilir and Irena are on a mission to brighten your day.”

“Avon Lake has a strong sense of community, and Lake Road offers the perfect blend of charm and visibility,” said Ilir Lamaj. “We felt it was the ideal location to become part of the neighborhood’s daily rhythm, offering a spot where both locals and visitors can feel at home.”
