Ribbon Cutting at the new Breakwall Food & Spirits (173 Lear Rd.) on Saturday, June 1, at 11am

05/23/2019 – On Saturday, June 1, at 11am, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new location for The Breakwall Food & Spirits at 33382 Walker Road in Avon Lake.

For more than five years, The Breakwall has been a popular Avon Lake restaurant and tavern attracting customers with menu favorites like burgers, wings, Philly cheese steaks, chili, and their specialty Scarlett and Valicity pulled pork sandwiches. The Breakwall’s mission is “to delight customers and create loyalty by providing exceptional prompt service, a clean establishment, and well-prepared meals using quality ingredients at a fair price.” Until now, The Breakwall had been succeeding in that mission at their cozy location at the northern end of Lear Road. But now, having delighted more customers than that space can handle, they are opening their new location in the plaza on the northeast corner of Walker and Moore.

The Breakwall is owned by Serena and Joe Zinsmeister, long time Avon Lake residents. When their lease was up on Lear, they knew they needed more space, but they wanted to stay in Avon Lake. “We love it here,” says Serena Zinsmeister. “We have been established here, and created amazing relationships here. It is a great city with lots to offer its residents. We like to give back to our community because without it we couldn’t exist.” Their new home, in a plaza anchored by the Drug Mart store, gives them a needed abundance of parking, the lack of which was becoming a problem with more and more loyal customers on Lear.

“For the City of Avon Lake, The Breakwall’s relocation to Walker and Moore does two valuable things,” says Ted Esborn, Economic Development Director for the City. “First, it retains a growing business in Avon Lake. The Breakwall had grown out of its original location and we were able to keep them in the City with an available space. Second, it brings a strong tenant to a large space that has been in flux for many years. With Drug Mart on the east end of the plaza and The Breakwall on the west end, we are looking forward to a more vibrant shopping plaza.”

All are encouraged to come out on the 1st to celebrate the opening of this new restaurant. The ribbon cutting will be at 11am, but The Breakwall will have giveaways all day, as well as food specials to mark the occasion.
