Ground Breaking at Hinkley - June 16, 2021

06/16/2021 – On Wednesday, June 16, at 2:30pm, there will be a ground breaking ceremony for an expansion at Hinkley, the well-known lighting company located at 33000 Pin Oak Parkway in Avon Lake.

This expansion will allow Hinkley to increase stocking inventory levels and speed up fulfillment and special-order processing. “This investment allows us to increase inventory while expanding our warehouse and production capacity, in addition to adding light automation capabilities,” said Hinkley President Jess Wiedemer of the expansion, noting that it will support distribution partners as well as employees. “We’ll have increased product availability and ship it quickly to keep pace with heightened demand and consumer expectations.”

This is a 130,000 square-foot expansion to Hinkley’s headquarters and Central Distribution Center for warehousing and fulfillment. The second part of this infrastructure plan includes creating a 20,000 square-foot customer experience and research and development center to support product development, engineering, and brand experience activities. According to Hinkley Vice President Eric Wiedemer, this phase emphasizes an ongoing dedication to product innovation and quality. Additionally, Hinkley will be adding a weekend shift this summer.

When looking at where to add this element of the company, several West Coast locations were evaluated. However, after careful consideration Hinkley decided to expand their existing distribution operation in Avon Lake. “The continuing support from the City of Avon Lake was an important factor in our decision to expand here,” says Eric.

“It means a lot to us that people welcome Hinkley into their homes. It’s the heart and soul of our business, and it’s been that way since 1922,” says Jess. Along with his brother Eric, they are committed to a legacy of design and style, and creativity is encouraged at every level of the company. The brothers are blending innovation and heritage, tradition and transformation. Being located just a few miles from the shores of Lake Erie, a lifelong devotion to their business is balanced with the importance of family time, two core values that are an intrinsic part of their DNA. “Our dad cherished spending time with family, and he loved boating, so he instilled that same joy in us as we were growing up,” says Jess, “and in the summer, we relish the opportunity to be out on the water together. This is a superior place to live, work and raise our families and we are excited for Hinkley to be a part of the growing Avon Lake community.”
