Ribbon Cutting at Plum Asian Fare & Sushi today, August 23, at 2pm, in the Landings

08/23/2022 – Avon Lake, Ohio: Today, August 23, at 2:00pm, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at Plum Asian Fare & Sushi (32730 Walker Rd Unit C3), the newest business in Avon Lake’s Landings area on the northeast corner of Walker Rd. and Avon Belden Rd.
Plum’s owner, Cheryl Suen, tells the story of how the new restaurant in Avon Lake came to be. “After searching for places to open in Northeast Ohio, we were drawn to Avon Lake because we noticed a tight knit community which included many restaurants that have been around for more than 20 years and we hope to be a part of that.” Plum Asian Fare & Sushi is taking over the space Mark Pi’s China Gate, a restaurant that had a long run in Avon Lake and a faithful clientele. “Mark Pi did a great job serving the community for so long. Plum offers a new experience we couldn’t be more excited to share with you.”
One thing that sets Plum apart is its Taiwanese dishes. “We would describe Plum as Asian fusion, serving everything from traditional Asian cuisine to innovative Taiwanese,” says Suen. “Our head chefs studied culinary arts in Taiwan. After their studies and moving to the United States, they trained under the guidance of their master chef for 20 plus years in Fairlawn, Ohio.”
What’s something about Plum that might surprise you? “One of our favorites is our homemade plum ice cream,” says Suen. “We have plenty more surprises in store. Come on in and see for yourself!!”
The City of Avon Lake celebrates Plum as the newest part of a Landings area that has been finding ways to thrive for more than 30 years. “The history of the Landings is filled with transitions just like this one,” says Ted Esborn, Avon Lake’s Community Development Director. “A business that has been a fixture in Avon Lake for a long time says goodbye, but is replaced by a dynamic new business that begins its own journey. We are excited to see Cheryl and her team at Plum get to know Avon Lake.”
