Fireworks are Prohibited in Avon Lake

As we approach Independence Day, it's important to remember that while fireworks may be legal in the State of Ohio, they are not legal in the City of Avon Lake.

The discharge of fireworks within our city limits is prohibited and can lead to misdemeanor charges and fines per City Ordinance Chapter 672.03.

Fireworks are inherentlydangerous and can cause a range of injuries, from minor burns to severe trauma, loss of hearing or vision, and even death.. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, fireworks sent more than 9,700 people to the emergency room and caused eight deaths in 2023 alone.

If you want to enjoy fireworks for Independence Day, consider attending a public display like Avon Lake’s annual Fireworks Celebration.
