Discover all there is to do in Avon Lake Parks

When you live in, work in or visit Avon Lake, you have access to nearly acres of public parks and green spaces. Whether for recreation, athletics or gathering for fun, Avon Lake provides a variety of opportunities for people to get outside and enjoy our community year-round. Discover your favorites among our five community parks, nine neighborhood parks and one Lorain County Metro Park.

Community Parks

Bleser Park    

Bleser Park
32800 Electric Boulevard
Hours: 6:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m., year-round

Bleser Park is the most frequently visited park in Avon Lake. With approximately 23 acres, it is the focal point for many activities from baseball to basketball to swimming. Two pavilions are available for private party rentals. Pavilion A sits closer to the volleyball and basketball courts. Pavilion B sits closer to the playground.

  • Avon Lake Play Space (ALPS), a 12,000-square-foot playground. The playground is being renovated and currently unavailable for use.

Miller Rd Park

Miller Road Park packs a lot into its 14.7 acres. Located on the west end of Avon Lake on the bike-friendly Lake Road (U.S. 6), the park is many things to many people. Visitors can walk along a lake-side paved trail or sit on one of several park benches and look out over Lake Erie. Picnic tables and grills are available making the destination a popular spot for family gatherings.  

A long fishing pier is open year-round and is a popular place for fishing, walking and watching boaters. Miller Road Park is heavily utilized by Lake Erie boaters. A well-maintained boat launch is in use spring, summer and fall. There is ample parking for visitors and designated parking spaces for vehicles and trailers.

The Gazebo at Miller Road Park is home to our Summer Concerts. Many people have found this gazebo to be the ideal location for outdoor summer weddings and or photos. The small pavilion at Miller Road Park can be reserved for picnics.

Veteran's Park 

Veterans' Memorial Park
32756 Lake Road (Route 83 & Lake Road)
Hours: 6:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m., year-round

Located at the intersection of State Route 83 and State Route 6 (Lake Road), this park offers grand views and wonderful access to Lake Erie. The Avon Lake Boat Club offers small boat storage. At the western end of the park lies the historic Lake Shore Cemetery. 

The Lake House and Folger Home located in Veterans' Memorial Park are available for private parties throughout the year. The Veteran’s Memorial Park Gazebo is also a perfect location for graduation, prom and family photos. These popular rental facilities are often used for small weddings, showers, family reunions, graduation parties, meetings and other private events.

Parking: There is limited on-site parking with overflow available across the street at the Old Firehouse Community Center (100 Avon Belden Road) and the old RTA Commuter lot on Lake Road, just west of the Old Firehouse Community Center.

Walker Road Park

Located in Avon Lake on the border of Bay Village, this park is jointly owned by both cities. This park has a pavilion available for rental from May through October. Avon Lake and Bay Village residents will receive the resident rate for this pavilion.

Weiss Fields

This is the largest community park in Avon Lake with approximately 79 acres. Weiss Field is our City’s premier ballpark and offers a variety of recreational activities that are free and open to the public. This park is also the location for our annual firework display around the Fourth of July.

Weiss Field offers two rentable pavilions. Pavilion A sits closer to the skate park and can accommodate 50 people. Pavilion B sits closer to the playground and parking lot and can accommodate 100 people.

Pets will love to play off-leash at Weiss Field’s fenced-in dog park. The dog park is completely enclosed by a five-foot high fence that provides space just for small dogs and a separate area for large dogs.

Belle Road Park

Located in the center of Kopf Family Reservation, this park is part of Lorain County Metro Parks. There are plenty of trails and wooded areas for residents to enjoy the great outdoors.

Ilg Family Park

This passive park is located at the end of Beck Road.



Inwood Park

This serene park features plenty of open space to enjoy the outdoors.

This cozy park is located in the center of the "45's cottage district."

Sunset Park

Home of the neighborhood Greenbox program in the summer, this pocket park is a beautiful piece of open space.

Lorain County Metro Park


Kopf Family Park

Kopf Family Reservation
Armour Road Trail

Kopf Family Reservation opened in 2008 and boasts more than three miles of maintained trails that wind through stream-side woodlands. A partnership between the Lorain County Metro Parks, the City of Avon Lake, Avon Lake School District and Avon Lake Public Library, this neighborhood gateway park offers visitors year-round opportunities for recreation.

Dog Park Rules

Dog park rules are designed both to ensure good manners and help promote safety. For this reason, it’s important to know the do's and don’ts of the dog park and to follow them every time you and your dog visit the park.

1070.07  WEISS FIELD DOG PARK RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. The City does not supervise use of off-leash areas, and anyone using the area does so at his or her own risk.
  2. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult in the fenced area.
  3. Only two dogs per person are allowed.
  4. Dogs must be healthy, fully immunized, dewormed, licensed as set forth in Section 618.08, and wearing ID tags as set forth in Section 618.095.
  5. Puppies under four months old are prohibited.
  6. Female dogs in heat and non-neutered male dogs are prohibited.
  7. Dogs that are classified as potential nuisance dogs, dangerous dogs or vicious dogs are prohibited.
  8. Dogs must be leashed prior to and upon leaving the fenced area, and owners must have a leash visible at all times while the dog is off leash in the fenced area.
  9. Dogs must never be left unattended or out of owner's sight.
  10. Owners of dogs using the fenced area must remain within the fenced area at all times.
  11. Dogs must be removed by their owners immediately at the first sign of aggressive behavior toward people or other dogs.
  12. Owners are legally responsible for their dogs and any injuries caused by their dogs.
  13. Owners are required to clean up and dispose of all waste of their dogs.
  14. No food, smoking, treats or chew items are allowed inside the fenced area.
  15. Failure to comply with the posted rules and regulations may result in expulsion from the park.
