Avon Lake Regional Water provides water and wastewater services to more than 200,000 customers in and around Avon Lake. Its Board of Municipal Utilities is an independent governing body (elected by the residents of Avon Lake every two years) to establish  policy and oversee all operations. Avon Lake Regional Water is responsible not only for maintaining, servicing, and replacing its water intake lines at the bottom of Lake Erie, but also water and wastewater pumps, fresh-water treatment equipment, Avon Lake water mains and sanitary sewers, as well as administering daily water quality tests and reporting results to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. Avon Lake Regional Water serves an entire region, and strives to protect Lake Erie, this area’s most precious natural resource, by working to educate and engage people in a way that inspires them to do the same.
