Part-Time Human Resource Director

The City of Avon Lake is seeking candidates for a part-time Human Resource Director. The Human Resource Director is under the direction of the Mayor, this employee shall recommend and develop the Human Resource Department goals, plans and priorities. The employee shall recommend, develop and implement various human resource policies and procedures in areas including personnel selection, evaluation, training, compensation, recordkeeping, compliance, and other areas as needed. This employee shall assist the Mayor and Council as needed in employee and labor relations matters including, but not limited to, grievances, arbitrations, and negotiations. This employee shall perform other human resource functions as needed.

The qualifications for this position is a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resource Management or Business, or at least four (4) years of responsible human resource experience in a position involving Human Resources; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides skills and abilities necessary to perform the job.

The qualified candidate shall have skills and abilities in dealing with Worker’s Compensation; Unemployment Compensation; health care and other benefits; labor relations in a union environment; and management.
