City of Avon Lake is seeking a full-time Human Resources Director to oversee the municipal workforce of over 165 full time, 35 part-time (year-round) and large volume seasonal staff. The current workforce is represented by seven collective bargaining units with a large non-bargaining workforce. Position to start immediately.

The Human Resources Director is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the human resources function within the organization. This includes developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and programs to support the overall business objectives and ensure effective talent management. The HR Director serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership and provides guidance and expertise on all HR-related matters. The HR Director shall work with and support the Avon Lake Civil Service Commission and any ad/hoc committees created by City Council. This position is appointed by the Mayor and serves at the pleasure of the administration.

Preference will be given to those individuals with Human Resource credentials (SHRM or PSHRA or IPMA) coupled with collective bargaining experience. The job is non-classified, exempt and comes with comprehensive benefits including health insurance and paid time off. The salary range $80,000 to $120,000, subject to City Council approval. Position is open until filled.
