Walker Road Paving Project Update
The City of Avon Lake's Walker Road Phase 5 construction project has been awarded to Gerken Paving, Inc. Beginning the week of August 18, construction crews will begin setting up the construction zone.
The project starts approximately 1,600 feet east of Miller Road (at the old railroad crossing) and continues eastward to Moore Road. See below for project maps. Beginning the week of August 25, Walker Road will be limited to a single lane of westbound-only traffic through the construction zone. The duration of westbound-only traffic will be approximately 60 days. In general, road work will take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (weather permitting).
Phase 5 of the Walker Road improvement plan includes widening the road to add bike lanes, as well as:
• Resurfacing and repair of the asphalt pavement.
• Replacement of roadside and subsurface drainage.
• Replacement of curb ramps and sidewalks.
• Replacement of driveway aprons.
• Improvement of pavement striping and signage.
• Grading of ditches and other linear areas.
• Restoration of affected areas.
Construction is expected to be completed in November 2025.
